About Otago Anniversary Day 2027

Otago Anniversary Day is the regional anniversary day for the Otago province. In 2027 it's observed on Monday, 22 March. The anniversary itself is 23 March. Employment New Zealand says there's no single day of local observance for Otago, so employers and employees should follow their employment agreement or custom and practice.

Employment New Zealand notes that provincial anniversary days follow the old 19th-century provinces rather than today's council boundaries, and suggests checking with your local council for the most reliable date. No law makes shops close on an anniversary day, so each store sets its own hours.

NZ Post lists Otago Anniversary Day among the regional days that can affect delivery times and asks you to allow one to two extra working days for mail.
