About Westland Anniversary Day 2026
Westland Anniversary Day is the regional anniversary day for Westland. In 2026 it's observed on Monday, 30 November. The anniversary itself is 1 December. Observance varies across Westland, but Greymouth observes the official day.
Employment New Zealand notes that provincial anniversary days follow the old 19th-century provinces rather than today's council boundaries, and suggests checking with your local council for the most reliable date. No law makes shops close on an anniversary day, so each store sets its own hours.
NZ Post lists Westland Anniversary Day among the regional days that can affect delivery times and asks you to allow one to two extra working days for mail.
